Igbaras Rotation: Week 1

For all those wondering how my first week of internship was, it wasn't not as terrible as I thought it would be. First of all, the Delta Fours is one of the three groups assigned to the community. Second of all, we were assigned to the lovely town of Igbaras, Iloilo!

My mother told me that they used to do their community rotations in Igbaras too, way back in the early 80s. No wonder why people are so accustomed to having lost-looking kids clad in white walking around town. Lol

Here are some of the highlights of our first week there. It was full of sun (like sweltering heat of probably around 90 degrees or more), mountains, trees, food food food, lovely people, Karay-a (which I'm trying to learn), and of course the feel of community medicine.

We tried our hands at cooking! Thankful that the owner of the house we're staying in, Tita Fe, just let's us do our thing. We've agreed that all this cooking has made us bond as a group, from procuring ingredients at the market, to chopping, to cooking. So far, we've been a rather successful team. The finished products may not be perfect, but they were tasty, and edible. Hahahaha

We went up the mountains to Barangay Sta. Barbara, wearing jeans with our uniforms. Hahaha I thought it was weird, but I soon appreciated it.

So basically Igbaras is like a working vacation, as Daniel's outfit shows.

We're back in the city for the weekend. We're down to our last week there, and we're excited to see more patients and have more fun. One thing's for sure, after this rotation, we're going to miss Igbaras very much.
